Creative Roots offers camps on days off from school. Most of our camps are offered based on the Portland Public School Calendar and we are adding more camps for families attending schools on
different calendars.
Camps are from 8:30am-4:30pm at Creative Roots, 2661 NW Thurman Street. The cost of each camp is $75/day, with a discount available when registering for multiple camp programs. Please click on the button below for more details on pricing. We also offer days off from school camps when school is out due to inclement weather.

October 14 – Kandinsky Inspired Art – Learn about the geometrical art of Kandinsky. Explore different art media including paint, clay and fiber arts.
November 4 – Leonardo da Vinci – Experiment and create new contraptions in this fun and creative camp.
November 9-11 – Pirates & Mermaids Mini-Camp – Dive into the mysterious world of Pirates and Mermaids through stories, drama and art. Learn about Pirate and Mermaid Lore, create fun underwater artwork and a secret treasure map.
November 23 – Monet Inspired Paintings – Learn about some of Monet’s most famous artwork and explore elements of watercolor painting in the style of Monet.
November 25 – Clay Figures – Learn about different art techniques to use with clay design. Build structures, people, figures and more in this exploratory day off from school camp.
December 18-23 – Leonardo da Vinci Camp – Join us for one of our most popular camps! Leonardo da Vinci was a famous artist, creator, inventor and visionary. His contributions to engineering, anatomy, painting and other creative works have influenced our world in countless ways. In this camp we will try to recreate some of da Vinci’s models and also create some of our own models, sketches and paintings.
December 26-30 – Fiber Arts Winter Break Camp – Fiber Arts lend themselves to both individual artwork as well as larger collaborative group art work. Sewing, knitting, embroidery, felting and more. Learn and practice fiber arts techniques, create a project and work together with other campers to create collaborative artwork.
January 2 – Mixed Media & Yoga – Another one of our most popular camps, Mixed Media and Yoga camp is a fun mix of artistic exploration and mindfulness through yoga. Join us for a fun and relaxing day of creative inspiration.
January 16 – Mini-House Building – Design and build mini-houses out of wooden sticks and natural materials. If you are more of an interior decorator, this camp is also a great opportunity to design and create miniature dishes, furniture, artwork and more!
January 30 – Fiber Arts – A cozy day of fiber arts work. Join your friends for a fun day of knitting, sewing, felting and friends.
February 3 – Water Color Resist Painting – A traditional art technique, water color resists create beautiful artwork and are a fun way to play with contrasting colors, texture and negative space.
February 20 – Book Making & Poetry – In this camp, we will make a variety of books, learning different book binding techniques, and write original poetry to put in our books,
March 27-31 – Dragons & Mystical Creatures Spring Break Camp – Explore the magical world of dragons and mystical creatures. We will design and create scenes, creatures and explore the magical elements of these mystical beasts. This is a fun and creative camp for kids who are curious and inspired by the magic of the creative process.
April 7 – Mixed Media Camp – Join us for a fun day of mixed media art. Bring your creative ideas and explore and create with your friends.
May 5 – Intergenerational Art – Join us for a day of intergenerational art making. We will join with some adults in the community who are practicing artists and have experience working with kids. Learn from each other and create art together! (Emerson School)
May 18 & 19 – Puppetry – Learn some puppet making techniques and explore how to bring your puppets to life. (Emerson School)
