As a professional educator, Monique brings over 20 years of experience working in public, private and alternative educational settings with preschool, elementary, middle school and mulit-age homeschool classrooms to her training programs. Monique holds a dual Masters Degree in Education and Teaching Through the Arts from Lesley University, and has many years of experience working with children with special needs. Currently, Monique is offering classes as an Adjunct Faculty of Portland State University, and offers trainings which can be approved by the Oregon Registry Online (ORO).
Creative Roots offers Teacher Training and School Inservice programs. Monique brings a unique perspective and integrates the arts, creativity, mindfulness and best practices in education to her training sessions. Participants learn about latest research and experience hands-on practices to use when they return to their classroom or other educational settings. Monique also takes the time to listen to the specific concerns and questions of the staff and parents to customize the teachings she offers.
Often schools and teachers are interested in developing their own mindfulness and creative practices. Monique brings her training as a registered yoga teacher and certified creative coach and Academic Life Coach to guide teachers and facilitators towards an increased sense of fulfillment, self-awareness in their teaching, and renewed sense of purpose.

I think the whole training helped me define more clearly the constructivist education I intuitively thrive for as a PK teacher.” – L’Étoile French Immersion Staff
“Monique has an amazing ability to connect with children and families, meeting kids ‘where they are’ developmentally, socially and emotionally. Her programs draw out children’s strengths and support them in learning how to support themselves.” – Lisa Madison, MD, Pediatric Endocrinologist
“Thanks Monique for your presentation on yoga. I really liked how you explained yoga so much more than an athletic position-more of a way of life. I feel wonderful – physically and emotionally after the yoga activities.” – Head Start Staff
